Lush plantings and a recessed seating area create intimate spaces for conversation in the rear gardens. Climbing roses soften a natural wood arbor that lends an implied enclosure to the naturalistic landscape. A variety of pavings flow through the different gathering areas, giving each their own identity. Lounge chairs are set at the edge of the property in a small meadow of grass, providing a space for unrestricted relaxation. Jacobs/Ryan Associates received the 2005 Illinois Chapter, American Society of Landscape Architect’s President’s award of excellence in residential design for this project and was featured in Architectural Digest Magazine (February 2002).
